Industries that benefit a lot from refrigeration engineering
All the packaged food items that we eat today would have used refrigeration engineering before they come to our dining table. A lot of technology is under work to preserve these foods after they are harvested and before they reach us without being spoilt. Industrial refrigeration systems that use ammonia refrigeration play an important role in processing the food items. Since ammonia is used in refrigeration they are also referred to as the ammonia refrigeration systems.
The principle in which our refrigeration works is the same that is used in industrial refrigeration too. The difference being that ammonia is used as the coolant in industrial refrigeration. Our refrigerators use a non-toxic coolant called the CFC. Ammonia is dangerous when human is exposed to it. Hence a lot of safety measures are taken for workers working in the food processing industry. Safety management is the focus in such industries.
Meat processing industry, fish industry, poultry industry, dairy industry, and horticulture industry are some of the industries that benefit a lot using products that come as a result of refrigeration engineering. It also finds its use in air conditioning. Ammonia refrigeration is also used in air-conditioning in office rooms, clubs, hotels, hospitals, and airports.
